📍 The Best Fishing Spots Near Round Rock (Kid-Tested)

We've been on a mission since we started BuBi Worms: fish every accessible lake, creek, and pond we can reach. This is our honest, kid-tested ranking of the best spots near Round Rock.

🥇 #1: Brushy Creek Regional Trail (Berry Springs)

Distance from Round Rock: 15 minutes
Fish: Bass, bluegill, catfish
Kid rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is our most-visited spot. The banks are gentle and accessible, there are picnic tables, and the fish are genuinely aggressive here. We've caught fish within 10 minutes every single visit. Use a small bobber rig with half a nightcrawler for bluegill, or a bottom rig with a whole worm for catfish.

🥈 #2: Lake Georgetown (Jim Hogg Park)

Distance from Round Rock: 25 minutes
Fish: Largemouth bass, white bass, catfish, crappie
Kid rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Bigger fish here. We caught our personal best bass (3.5 lbs!) at Jim Hogg park using a nightcrawler near a submerged log. The banks can be steep in some spots — best for slightly older kids or kids with parents close by.

🥉 #3: Old Settler's Park Pond (Round Rock)

Distance from Round Rock: 5 minutes (basically in town)
Fish: Bass, bluegill
Kid rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Perfect for a quick after-school trip. Small pond, easy access, stocked with fish. Not huge fish, but consistent action. Good for beginners and young kids who need to catch something to stay interested.

#4: Lake Stillhouse Hollow

Distance from Round Rock: 35 minutes
Fish: White bass, stripers, catfish, walleye
Kid rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Worth the drive for the white bass run in spring (March–April). During the run, fish are stacked at the spillway and it's almost impossible not to catch something. Rest of the year it's better for more experienced anglers.
